It seems possible to replace NPR with a longer FPR sometimes. Any thoughts on that? Thanks.

Yes, that is true. But it very much depends on what you are cooking - if you are sure it will be cooked, it is fine. But most recipes do factor in NPR as part of the cooking time - or there are other reasons, eg. Wanting to make sure meat has had time to relax. I do sometimes do this - or a combination of a few minutes NPR then releasing the rest of the pressure, when I am in a hurry. I am going to write more about the combination approach, it is going to crop up a lot.
